Open Source Computer Vision (OpenCV) functions enhanced with OpenCL for acceleration
August 02, 2012 by Tony DeYoung
Computer vision can play an essential role in software for gesture tracking, smart video surveillance, automatic driver assistance, biometrics, augmented reality, robotics and more. OpenCV is a popular open source real time computer vision library.
As part of the heterogeneous ecosystem, AMD initiated a joint project with ISCAS to accelerate the OpenCV library with OpenCL. Dozens of functions are now utilizing OpenCL, and the code has been accepted back to the official mainline tree.
